Yanmar 1gm10 with PSS seal - major leak

I had a 30 footer to which I fitted a Yanmar 1GM10.There were no end of problems with the engine jumping about at idle and being not so smooth at higher revs.In the end I capitulated and made a Halyard like coupling from a Mini halfshatft and a thrust bearing. That completely solved all the issues.

I added an R & D flexible coupling to my Yanmay1GM10 when I first got my boat about 14 years ago and I was initially alarmed by its bounce at low revs.
This made little difference and I simply have got used to its movement. The engine mounts remain Ok after over 16 years in service (about 1000 hours).

I fitted a stuffing box style gland about 14 years back to replace a lip seal type gland. The stuffing box gland is excellent, checked annually - never been repacked in 14 years !

.....Would be interested to hear from anyone would has used mounts from someone like R&D or AV Industrial. The seal has leaked from new even with new mounts and a new shaft so sticking with the OEM mounts isn't going to resolve the leak on its own

I've used AV for two boats, and recommend them. They are knowledgeable, will let you rummage if you can get to Leicester, and a quarter of the price of Yanmar.
