No they didn't. Awlgrip suggested it might have been styrene released from the GRP, trapped water under the sprayhood and dinghy or poor preparation in that order of liklihood. How a forty year old boat is still releasing styrenes from the lay up is beyond me. The water argument doesn't hold up for open the sides of the coachroof and nothing explains the "softness" of the paint in the damaged areas.
It is notable that the sides of the hull are relatively free from blemishes, it's the coachroof that's showing the worst symptoms and that wasn't "dried" before preparation and painting, like the hull was as part of the preparation for the osmosis treatment.
Don't get me started on why that was needed..................
