Evening all. I need to buy name lettering for my Rival 41 's transom. What is the usual size for such lettering? I want a modest size, nothing larger or smaller than necessary. Many thanks.

Divide thetransome into vertically and divide the letters of the name each side cutout the letter in a rational size say 3inches and see if they fit adjust accordingly but it has to be readable from some distance probably a bit smaller than car reg letters

It doesn't take a lot of photo editing to place a text on a pic of your boat, to see what looks best. Large enough to be read from a distance but not to dominate the boat.

Names with many characters always will be harder to fit

Edit: Also consider if home city/marina is to be put in a second line and do use a readable font.

There doesn’t appear to be a normal size. I see names that can’t be read from a few yards away to those that would be visible from space. I have my boat’s name on each quarter since my stern is broken up but I can see that a Rival might look better with the name on the stern. My preference would be - large enough to be read by another boat sailing past, but it’s purely a personal choice. In general, lower case letters are more easily read, but much depends on the name itself and the space available.

If you want a Vinyl decal then Leonie is highly recommended.

My new (to me ) boat will have vinyl signs 110 high x 605 wide, but Leonie can adjust to suit precisely your space and will match a graphic or use modern fonts

Many thanks to everyone for your interesting responses. As the Rival 41 is a fairly narrow stern then I reckon @90-100mm will probably look right. Will take a look at Leonie, thanks for that tip.
