Yacht insurance

We are trying to get yacht insurance for our boat she is a rival 34, 40 years old.
This year we would like to sail France Spain Portugal the Mediterranean and the problem one the Canaries, we have found companies that will insure us for Mediterranean but not for an extended cruise down to the Canaries does anyone know why this should be the case ?
Does anyone else have yacht insurance for a boat of this age including these cruising areas?
My brother and I are quite experienced sailors
2017 sailed round the UK on a sabre 27, 2300nm
2019 Northern France Bay of Biscay northern Spain 2500nm on a rival 34
We have quite a bit of experience but no paper qualifications
We would appreciate all the information out there thank you for reading my post

When I moved boat to Baltics - I found a German Insurance Outfit that insured anywhere boat ... and price / coverage was mind blowingly less than any UK I'd seen .... and the cover was full comprehensive - no surveys etc. ICC is fully acceptable to them.

Were very nice and precise to deal with. LaterI didn't need Insurance after a few years ... but if I ever need again - I will renew with them.

I've been with W G Yachts for years, and they seem to be quite efficient when I have wanted to go off the 'beaten track'. Also excellent when i had to make a claim a few years ago.

I have just arranged insurance with WG Yachts after hearing that ECMYIA is to pack up. I have been impressed with how helpful the proprietor, Richard Walton-Gould has been in getting me am insurance policy tailored to my needs.

One of the biggest hurdles I found with UK Insurers - was the sailing area limits.

They would extend sailing area on a temp basis only. If you wanted a permanent extended area - they didn't want to know.

When I spoke to Mannheimer (Riga Agent put me onto them) - they were so accommodating - I could not believe it was Insurance Co !! Yes Sir ... no problem, Yes Sir - of course added. Survey ? Is boat safe and sound - suitable for sea ? Anything else we can help with ?

We are with y yachts and sailed to the canaries and they covered us no issues.

We were covered from UK to well into the Med and Atlantic Islands with Y Yacht, 30 year old boat, covered 12 months in use. Last year I crossed the Atlantic Islands off but we're still covered to 200 miles offshore. As others have said, give them a call.

I have been quoted from GJW £410 fully comprehensive for our trip which I think is not too bad.

I have just renewed the policy that R W-G arranged for me last year (with Noble Marine Insurance) .

The cover is unchanged and the premium is the same as last year.

We are currently with Y and they have been pretty good but I understand that they have now been sold, to Topsail I think
