Westaway Sails & Covers, Ivybridge | Sail Makers - Yell

22 four and five star reviews. Lots from people who have made more than one positive comment on their services and yet have commented on no other companies at all.

How strange is that?

.
Well, you dont actually know if the reviewers used other companies. I did and was quite dissappointed in CX****, but then I've bought number of sails.

Westaway have a major cash flow issue and went bankrupt and reformed with Kate at helm. Their cash flow can hardly be getting better right now as Covid bites into leisure market. Their second hand catalogue is a muddle. However the old advice is to always inspect before purchase buying secondhand, or alternatively agree a returns policy

However does it seem reasonable to vilify a maker of good sails to another bankruptcy? I am sure the big boys would love you to do so, but the people of Ivybridge might lose yet another business, and there will be less competition and higher prices for all of us sailors

Most of the comments about new sails are reasonably positive, so it can hardly be said that they are being vilified into bankruptcy. If they can’t fix the long-standing issues the best way to protect their sail-making business would be to close down the second-hand sails business that seems to be the source of the bad press.
