Seriously, what's the point? No pictures of the floors by the back of the keel either.

What about Dehler v Container Ship or Dehler v Goodwins in a winter gale?

Could a "Demolition Regatta" be the answer to get rid of all those wrecks lying in the back of most boatyards?
 
True it was done as a demonstration but it does give some idea of what happens when we hit floating or fixed objects. Presumably other companies have done this - I cannot understand the German commentary but I understand that the keel fixing was undamaged
 
Thought when they were pounding the pontoon that it had a lot of 'give' - ie it didn't really reflect what would happen if you hit a UK channel mark as it doesn't move away with the impact.

Then they hit the rocks. Not a lot of movement there!

Impressive.
 
I'm pretty sure that Bavaria, at least I think it was them, did something similar about a decade back? I remember watching a video loop on their stand at Earls Court or Southampton of a yacht being rammed up a rocky foreshore.

They had kevlar in the bow area and this was to demonstrate it bulletproofness. Could have been another manufacturer though as I can't recall any kevlar-enriched Bavs.
 
I think I'l just nip out and check that my Dehler 22 didn't start out as a 31 /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I'm not entirely sure it proved anything. Actually that was only my third attempt at Yachtmaster /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
