I've been struggling to locate details on these.

I managed to get 2 of 3 wipers moving yesterday but the belts in them are pretty shot.

I believe they are type 48 wipers. If anyone has any advice on replacement parts and how to get the best use from them it'd be greatly appreciated

I am having exactly the same issue on my Broom. 40 year old wipers, but they can still get spares. Mind you, £700 for just the motor, and six weeks to get it.

They are bloody eyewatering expensive, but you have little if any choice. You can make the belts yourself, by getting a belt of the correct dimensions and then adding the wynn drive part from your old belt.

Sounds ominous....
Would some kind of timing belt/alternator belt from a car do the trick in that case?

Definitely possible. It's a pretty ordinary belt, which then has a clip attaching the wiper runner to it. Hepworth quoted £150 + vat for the carriage plate assembly, and £31.50 + vat for the belt. I'm sure the belt can be sourced for a few quid from Halfords etc and drilled. I'm going to try mine next week. They are type 48 as well, 27" so not huge.

I'll need to measure it I guess to suss out the length, I'm assuming they were quite standard.

I'm also aware we have 3 units on the boat so at £31+vat for a new belt suddenly gets mentally expensive

Please let me know if you find anything useful in your efforts and I'll also report back too

I managed to free off 2 of the units but noticed the motor just spins on the belt, so I assume a new belt would be the way forward and re tension due to their condition.

Ah yes, one of mine was just spinning and the belt not moving. When I finally managed to get it to bits, the clip securing the carriage plate to the belt had worked loose and jammed in the wheel but it was invisible until the belt came off. You might be lucky and just need to re-attach it.

1 of the units seems to be ok with a slight push of the hand and moves freely, so I think that's all about tension and cleaning all the gunk out of the mechanism.

The 2nd unit, seems quite stiff, again I think it needs to come apart, be cleaned and put back together without the grime so it moves properly. However the belt in that unit looks pretty bad.

The 3rd unit... motor comes on but doesn't turn. I'm hoping the mechanism is stuck and is possibly an easier fix
