It works both ways; there are some dodgy buyers, too.
After upgrading my electronics, I put a Navman GPS on e-bay. I described that although all of the cables were included, that they had been cut by the guy who did the new installation.
Duly sold it for a fair price. Later received an e-mail "it don't work and I want my money back".
I was mortified that I'd sold a dud to this poor chap. I was very tempted to return his cash and ask him to throw it in the nearest bin. However, I asked him to return it.
Looked like he'd made a very bad job trying to join red to red, green to green, blue to blue and so on. I took a few minutes to reconnect properly; fired it up in my garden and sent him a picture of the gps screen showing date, time and lat & long. I sent it back to him and never heard another word.
