Don’t get me started on ungrateful people . Of late I put two people together On a boat deal and to date I’ve not even received a thank you from the seller let alone the drink he promised me and payment for the invoice I sent him for work carried out on the day of the sea trial .
Nothing much I can do other than think if he buys another boat he will be looking for another engineer .

Hopefully there’s an explanation, maybe away from internet connection, but that does seem unlikely.
I’ve also given away several large items on here without receiving any form of thanks. Seems that’s just life, too short to get upset or bothered by it.

I'm fine, Stephanie is getting there. I'm told by floating thing is still floating, I haven't seen it since I became a professional hospital visitor in June. Still as my mother used to tell me "worse things happen at sea".

I therefore wrote and sent a second one 5 minutes ago, and that also has dissolved into cyberspace, so I am sorry you have not heard from me, I was most grateful for the tickets.

They've done something to the text editor that is embedded for both posts and messages, and it has become noticeably less reliable. Also (although this may be by design) it becomes even more problematic if you're using an adblocker.

This case aside It appears to be very much a case of avarice and people assuming they can simply take and an indoctrination of the younger age group generally where many seem to think they are owed something for nothing, in many cases they spend every spare waking your texting their friends but cannot send a simple thank you as it seems the latest bit of gossip is more important that people.
Recently a long standing friend asked be to clean his sons props and bought them over, dropped them in the tank overnight and neutralised them in the morning and spent about two hours hitting them with the surface conditioning pads and they gleamed, a couple of weeks later he turned up with his van full of fresh veg from his garden and gave me half, no money changed hands and a favour done was returned in another way which is beneficial to me, quid pro quo.

It is my pleasure to call myself a friend of Roy's but I can empathise with you 100% when you say your messages never reached him. There is just something about his use of media and brevity that confounds the norm. They are probably sitting in his inbox waiting for him but if yours was a new message rather than a reply you've lost him. He's diabolical that way.

Ah JtB... That explains things (I hope)
Went down to Plymouth last w/e to look at a replacement boat and to consider relocating and PM;d a couple of forumites but received no response... it would appear that the messages vanished into the digital abyss.
