Worst buy for me: nice blue fender socks, which SWMBO wanted. Got holes in them already, awful waste of dosch.

A squeezy bulb on a y-shaped bit of plastic hose which was supposed to start a siphon going. I bought it to fill up the boat's diesel tank from containers. It broke half way through and as the tank's still a third full a year later, it didn't exactly save that effort.

I suppose I could include all the flare packs I've bought over the years, which have all ended up being sold with each boat. I just know if I didn't spend the money, sod's law would mean I'd need them next time I left harbour.

Cra p Chinese Hurricane lamp which leaked after first use. Immediately regained my senses and bought an ex MOD Britissh Army issue again. Bliss!

Pressure washer from Focus (£30) lasted long enough to de-slime the boat and erupted in a high pressure fountain. Very attractive though.

(They did replace it - this one will last forever as I haven't opend the box yet)

liferaft (Avon 8 man) proved to be too heavy for where I intended to keep it on the boat, so now just sitting in the garage.

It was purloined from a XXXXX who thought that the current armed services could cut along nicely without it.

They are few and far between, as apparently they have given up doing camping, preferring the urban guerilla warfare so favoured in the newer conflicts.

I also bought a Chineese one in Greece and it too leaked - around the bottoms of the two side legs where they're metal tagged into the base. A so called "British Made" Chalwyn one also leaked in the same place but I am contemplating bringing that home and braizing around the legs to salvage it.
