Did you call the Coast Guard to tell them about the shipping hazard drifting in the lower left corner of your photo?

If it had been hardwood we would have removed it ourselves(Purely in the interest of other boats safety of course /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif)

Having worked a 1:3 rota day, night & weekend all my working life I will strain myself and try to sound sympathetic.

How touching,I feel much better now..... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gifI quite like being off when most others are working ,Buggers your social life a bit though doesnt it? Ill have another wine and drink to all us antisocial misfits that keep the country up and running /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I've been working every weekend and all hols. It's these buggers who insist on going away for the holidays.
Mind you scraping this antifoul is becoming a bit of a pain.
Did manage a sail yesterday showing someone the boat. Managed to get a deposit off him.

Work, work, work.

Yes, but you lock the doors at 11pm and hike up your metaphorical bosom checking latecomers for unattached women and bottles of beer. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Not working but still can\'t Sail....

because I had a hip reskin 2 weeks ago. So this weather is not exactly what the doctor ordered to improve morale.
Still the new joint is pain free, main problem being I left having the op a bit late so now have to rebuild wasted muscles- painful!

Target is too have a gentle poodle around the Solent for the May BHs when no doubt the weather will be yuk. Hope you are on the water then yourself and not working again.

best wishes for the hip to heal speedilly . I had a small op that became infected a few years back. Middle of summer unable to do much drove me nuts.

another worker bee

I went to a retirement party where a dermatologist colleague was retiring - he gave an erudite and witty, if dry, speech. He ended by addressing the issue of on call - he paid credit to us surgeons who were on a 1 in 3 or 4, less credit to the physicians who by then were on a 1 in 12 and then reflected that he had been on a 1 in 33!.. After the gasps had settled he followed with the punchline - he had been in once in 33 years!!!!
(and they get the same salary too)

I, too, working this weekend and itching to get to boat even if weather more suited to cockpit duties.

Hope everyone had a good break.

cheers

Re: another worker bee

Isn't dermatology the ultimate medical cash cow?

Patients rarely die and rarely get better etc.. And almost no "emergency" work - sounds a good deal to me /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Ships .... Cargo's ..... Inspections / Surveys don't stop ....

So if my guys are out there earning a crust and for me to keep my boat - I'd better be on call as well to sort out the problems and clients ... and this is 24/7 ..... 365 days a year ...

My heart bleeds ....... but like me - just think when you get on the boat ... it all fades into bliss of being "on the boat" ....

OK - I have an advantage - my boats are just down from back door ... !!

Im not complaining (much). A hell of a lot of people work rotas ,shifts, watches etc. Not to mention those at sea.

i quite enjoy turning up in some of the creeks and harbours midweek, no crowds pick of the visitors berths etc. Still need to have a moan now and then though/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Talking of ships cargos a cargo of Coal from Murmansk turned up a week or two back at bristol. So solidly frozen that the Kone unloaders couldnt get into it. Suggestions of using the microwave on defrost didnt raise many laughs. If a Sunday joint takes 6 hours to defrost how long for 600000 tons of nutty slack??
