Who in Scotland would you get to do a significant refit and tart-up on an old wooden boat? (Launched 1965. She is in fairly good condition and has been sailing every season for the last 20 years.)
As I said, the boat is in good condition. She is a larch on oak clinker hull. Some of the brightwork in mahogany, the transom is teak and the cap rails are Iroko - new 7 years ago.. The hull was stripped to the bare wood two years ago and all defects discovered repaired, The combings were extensively repaired to renew all rotted sections three years ago. The wooden mast had its seams remade 4 years ago. Keel bolts drawn 3 years ago. Cabin windows replaced four years ago. The deck and cabin tops were renewed 18 years ago. Their day will come, but it is not planned to renew them this time. Rudder refurbished and hangings replaced last year. There is a small known patch of rot in the deck on one quarter which may reveal more after exploratory surgery. It has not caused any rot to the planking, and there is some hope that the teak in the transom will have got off lightly. There is a large build-up of old paint around the cockpit and cabin, which needs stripping and sorting. What work I get done will depend on how much the chosen yard can do in one winter. I want to be sailing in the summer. If I find the right yard but have to wait a year I might well accept that. I'm not planning to throw silly money at her, but in the last 20 years this boat has had much more than ten times her value spent on her (silly money?), so I understand the pain I'm inviting here only too well. What is your budget?
£00's
£000's
£0000's
Or
£00000's
Fairly good condition is not helpful.
Teak?
Mahogany?
Ply?
Too many variables. You might want a years work done by Silvers or a touch up and sail by Chris Inge or John S Hill in Johnstone.

Silvers stopped doing anything other than storage well before the plague.
There is small yard up at Ullapool run by a couple of guys, who have a good reputation, but the cost is likely to be ££££££s.
Yup, Tim & Dan. Nice guy's that built an award winning Flying Ten some years ago.

Thanks to everyone for all the input. I have spoken to Adam as he got lots of votes both here and on Facebook. This will probably be a job for next winter not this - certainly if he does it..
I thought she was in remarkably fine condition when I went sailing on her last week! A beautiful boat, and a worthy obsession.
My good friend Darren of Mainsail Marine says Adam Way is definitely the man to go to in these parts when it comes to wooden boats and craftsmanship.
