Woodbridge tidemill

It is to do with the difficulty of maintaining “social distancing” and possibly the very frequent cleaning needed. We are enjoying a pleasant visit to the Tidemill right now, Showers are very pleasant if available , but last year on the Broads we probably only found about 4 places we could get one in 3 weeks. A strip wash in the heads just has to do as we don’t have a shower on board.
Actually it appears it has nothing to do with 'social distancing'. I spoke with one of the marina members of staff cleaning the two toilets and was told by him that it is all down to money and simply they were not prepared to pay to have the showers cleaned regularly by a contract firm. Don't know if that is true or not so it appears on the surface not a social distancing decision. Sad because all other marinas have open facilities.

then that’s their loss ...
3 of our club boats are cruising the solent and have reported that marinas are full and visitors are having to book days in advance ...

Going down to West Mersey in the next day or so, but without a tender, recently retired to the bin. Does anyone have a number for the private trot boat ‘Lady Grace’ ?

Lady Grace's price has gone up... Don't take this as gospel, but I think it's a fiver each way per person

Ouch!! We May have to rethink. At that cost I may as well nip into Bradwell or Brightlingsea! Thank you.

And you also have to book her in advance so make sure of your plans. I called her a couple of weeks ago to check and she will not come out at short notice..

I asked after Tollesbury..... seemingly they are not interested in visitors... email unanswered, phone on multiple occasions unanswered, voicemail message.. unanswered.... all during normal working hours. Tidemill still on the two loos, no showers as of 1/8/20.

there is another set of toilets by the boating pond a 10 min walk downriver from tide mill.. no showers there though, my boat is in a yard close by and i use them toilets , top tip get a radar key as all disabled toilets are unlocked

A couple of observations from our east coast cruise. Bio-security at Wolverstone excellent. Showers limited opening but they are staffed and cleaned after each use. “Follow me sir, this is your shower, I’ve just cleaned it down “ Made the £32 for a night seem almost like good value.
West Mersea- yacht club closed. Went to The Victory for a pint. No draught beer, no “drinkable” keg beer. Oh well, what whiskeys have you got? “don’t have any whiskey” (!). Staff surly and the whole place looked grubby. But we had a wonderful takeaway sea food feast from The Company Shed with a very drinkable white from a local vineyard. All well.

Wonder when did you find the Yacht Club closed? We’re open every lunch time 12 - 2.30, and every evening from 6 to 10.30 (we may close early in the evenings if no one is in).
