Well < Got the boat and the interior wood is very dark(Maogonhy and teac) wel got the advise and cleaned and bleched the wood , great so far but If I oil it it goes very dark again ??


I would like it to stay bright !

Any ideas ??

1. Varnish it, if you want it to look bright reddish etc.

2. Teak ONLY - for a nice bleached finish like your grandmother's draining board - scrub it once a week. Do NOT try this with other woods.

Just one point. If you scrub teak don't use a stiff brush which will remove softer wood and leave a raised grain pattern. Plastic scubbing pads, for example those made by 3M, are a better bet.

...and always scrub teak across (not along) the grain
