i have got one of these in my garage and would like to test it can anyone tell me how to wire the plug and test also what sise of boat are they suitable for
I think the plug has a +ve and -ve connection, mine were blue (-ve) and brown (+ve). I connetced to a 12v battery and then if you move it around the ram should go in or out.
[/ QUOTE ] Which of the three do you have. The analogue one with a round dial, the 800 micro with round buttons or the one with square buttons. If either of the first two the brown wire is positive and the blue negative.
If it is the third one and you have the waterproof plug and socket that was supplied look carefully at the makings on the socket and compare them with the diagram in the manual p27.
If you do not have the original plug and socket then what colours are the wires . If brown and blue then brown is positive

do you think this suitable for a 35foot yacht
[/ QUOTE ]Well, the manual (if you bother to look at it) suggests it's good for yachts up to 3200kg. So if you've got a lightweight 35ft yacht, yes. If not, no.
Assuming that its for 7 tonnes of Beneteau then no it won't be man enough for the job. It might be Ok just motoring along in calm conditions but not when sailing in anything more than the slightest breeze. The only one in the current range of Autohelms that will really do is the top of the range one, the S1 Plus Grand Prix Tiller Pilot. If the boat is very well balanced and light to handle then the S1 Plus Tiller Pilot would probably do.
It'd be just the ticket to replace my old analogue one though!
