Just replacing Aqua Signal 41 bi-colour like for like. I have 2 unmarked spade terminals on the unit - are these bi-directional, I mean does it matter how I connect positive and negative wires?

If its a filament lamp - then it makes no difference .
If it has the LED - then yes it will matter ... you should be able to connect and see if it works or not. If not then reverse connections.
Your wires are not bi-directional ... its DC ... so one way.

OK .. seems strange considering that LED's are. But even if it was - swapping leads over would not hurt.

Many quality, modern LED lamps have circuitry that stabilises the voltage and makes the unit non polarity sensitive.

I do not think AS offer an LED option for the series 41 navigation lights ( only a retro fit LED adapter for the deck light)

No using old fashioned bulbs, not worth changing nav lights to LED as only on when engine running, except for masthead tri-colour

And if your LED is red and green please mount it in the lamp correctly.
Spent 10 mins looking at a very dim lamp before the penny dropped, turned the LED round and the whole marina lit up.
