Morning all and after any recommendations for simple to use wireless 2 way headsets for myself and the admiral to communicate when berthing etc? Nothing too expensive either!

We use a pair of Bluetooth in-ear / clip-over-ear hands free mobile phone thingies. Very cheep. If at least one of you has a mobile contract that includes chat time then costs nothing extra to run. Once you have called the other, subsequent call just need a double press of the button on the earpiece to redial. The phone can be left in the cabin if required. We use hand signals, it can get entertaining.
On the other boat I crew on, 26 meters, hand signals work well.

We use the Bluetooth motorcycle/referee type quoted by Roger shaw above. They are self-contained; no need for a phone to be involved. But a lot cheaper than Roger's links - about £50 2 years ago. ISTR.

A friend of mine bought a Fisher 37 ketch. On their first trip out his wife was forward with the lines and had the shock of her life when she was addressed via a loudspeaker on the pilot house that her husband had discovered. I think that I am glad these haven't caught on.

I use 2 motorola handhelds , can have an earpiece if you like , it also then becomes a good way to communicate with others that might leave the boat or on the dingy , if no phone signal and no need for VHF .

I bought these after an unusual series of swear words from my wife following a long day and a failed attempt to pick up a mooring buoy at a very gusty Lezardrieux.

I did not buy the Sena. Firstly they are costly. Secondly they cover both ears and one might miss something someone says to you who is not using the other headset. Lastly they are big and bulky and "unsightly"
I bought a pair of bluetooth referee headsets. Very discrete and very effective. Most importantly SWMBO loves them too

I bought a bunch of these throat mikes and earpieces that plug into a mobile phone. 1 to get rid of wind noise 2 to talk to foredeck. Can plug into a cheap phone if not want to keep your best phone in a waterproof pocket and use intercom app (walkie talkie app) so does not need to make a phone call. No need even for a sim card. No need to press switches. 2 way communication. I did have to modify jack plug to fit mobile phone. I am going to put them on eBay (or here first) one day at about £30 a set when I get round to soldering the phone jacks on instead of the OEM ones that don't fit phones.

Seen your post about working in Titchmarsh Marina on Walton on the Naze and was wondering if you’d be interested in a job? My email is skyedave@hotmail.com.
It’s not a huge job. It’s connecting control cables and fitting the engine controls in the cockpit of a Colvic UFO, and drilling two holes in a solid stainless steel shaft. Probably an afternoon, but am hoping to get it done in April sometime... if interested, could you drop me a quick email and I’ll fill in the detail.

I think the adoption of these things is most unsporting.
