I'm looking to get a new piece of rope spliced on to a wire halyard.

Any suggestions who would do it in the gosport area. lot of people don't want to be bothered anymore as they just want to sell me a piece of rope.

changing to a rope halyard would mean changing the pulleys at the top of the mast, and as i have the rope and wire a splice is all i require.

wire to rope splice

if you know how to splice 3-strand rope it is much better to do alone
it sound difficult but it is quite easy !
basically, this is splicing the rope core to the wire, then over and beyond that with the rope cover to the wire with first inserting the part of the wire into the rope as core
try and will be very pleased with your work
regards

Not exactly Gosport but only a couple of miles away as the crow flies... You could try the guys at Chris Hornsey chandlery in Eastney, Portsmouth.

Do you have wire - rope splice for your main and genoa ???

I've changed the main to dynema but going to get a new wire rope splice on the genoa halyard.... maybe your boats different as it's masthead not fractional like mine.
