This might be a daft question but can you change the rubbers on a wiper balde without buying the whole thing?. I have just been quoted around £25 plus vat and delivery to replace a blade when only the rubber is perished and the chromed/stainless structure is perfect.

You've lost me there Benjanbev!

A lakesailor is when two people say the same thing and the person asking the question thanks the second one.

It actually needs the adjudication committee to verify it because there are numerous sub-rules which can catch out the unwary. I don't claim to be an expert, myself and previous claims have quite oftne been overruled. But I'm claiming it until I hear different. :D

Ah but if you look at it in threaded view you will see that he replied to Scubadoo.

OK he didn't mention Scubadoo by name, but even so...

Hey, c'mon. Help me out here. :D

I reckon that's yer problem.

Sorry guv. Them's the rules. :D

(I didn't write 'em - I'm just applying my interpretation, etc. ...)

Why not try appealing to Lakesailor himself for clarification? Dunno if he'd find you appealing, but you never know.

Hi all

Gosh -I was simply saying thanks to all responders and i do so again to those that have kindly responded with advice since.

I just press 'reply' and send message- i didnt realise that there was ' personal' and 'general' reply buttons - please advise if this is important!!

Aplogies if any offence caused.

regards

Mike

Mike, it's just a silly little joke on my part. Hope you get your wiper blades sorted out. I bought a box of spares recently and, when I was putting them away, I noticed that I already had three unopened boxes. So I reckon I'm ok on wiper blades until about 2017.

Although the circumstances are called Lakesailoring they are not my responsibility.
tcm wrote the rules and he will have to be contacted to sort this out.

Perhaps this will help
Rule 5 : Full Lakesailoring a.k.a. Complete Lakesailoring aka (slang) the Crash

Consider the case of someone having given the same answer as another poster, within the same thread, and this second poster does not (within the text) recognize he’s second to answer – he does not recognise or ackowledge others by name or as a group. There is now a clear lakesailoring situation, and a “risk of crash” is said to exist.

a) If the original poster says “oh thank you” or otherwise thanks or takes up or acknowledges the answer given by the second poster by thanking that second poster by name or by answering immediately after that second poster – it is a “Complete lakesailor” or “Full lakesailor” or the Lakesailoring has “crashed” or “had a crash” in colloquial form. Only the original poster can effect a Full Lakesailoring under normal circumstances, but see special circumstances below.
It may be that the full rules may help

Thanks for er... clearing that up. :)confused:)

I still maintain that BJB cannot have a legitimate claim as Mark K did not mention Scuabadoo when saying, 'thanks very much for responses'.

Had Mark K said, f'rexample, 'Scubadoo - thanks for your response' I reckon that would have been a Full Lakesailoring.

Great effort though. Very close.

Course, had BJB leaped in earlier and said, “I’m afraid that’s actually incorrect according to LakeRegs Rule 9d” (the 'Slam-dunk' argument) he would then have been in such a position to successfully claim it regardless. But he can't now 'cos I've just ruined it for him. :)
