winterising boat in lockdown I’m getting worried ????

What about the night workers?
As long as you have a legitimate reason then you can be out.

It's impacting the "ladies of negotiable virtue" as they have to stop work by 11:45, and with the other covid rules then they can only have one person they can hug over a two week period which must impact their customer base ;)

and no I do not have any intimate knowledge of those places or persons, living in an area that has a lot of military personnel we have a lot of establishments that cater for their desires - nieuwe meisjes - zachte prijzjes (new girls - soft prices) which is legal here.

Be interested to hear if your marina closes as I was booked to trial a boat for sale in your marina on Friday but the owner has told me he is not allowing and contractors or berth holders on site after Thursday.
Paul.
We walked to the marina yesterday and made a quick check on the boat . A key fob is needed to open the gates . Other berth holders are on site.
I suspect they are not allowed to sell boats during the lockdown? That might explain why a survey could not proceed as it is part of the boat selling process.

No , there was a another agenda .
Nothing stopping at nearby Marina or on the south coast , business as usual.

Whats all of this cooling system draining about.
Just put a tube heater in the engine bay on a thermostat. Another near the calorifier . Dehumidifier plugged in . Open the taps and let the domestic water all pump out until the taps are spitting air then shake the shower heads dry.
One hour max?
how do you do that without mains electric?
Not everyone has your personal circumstances.

We had boats lfted out only one week before the lockdown announcement. owners had no opportunity to winterise engines before lockdown.

Hi,
First time with one of these over winter - what do I do to winterise a jabsco manual sea toilet - turn off seacocks and pour diluted anti freeze into bowl and "pump" it a bit??
Is that it

Quite correct I have assumed shore power is available . And I believe the person I had responded to does have shore power .

I do nothing
But some antifreeze would do not harm if it is an environmental friendly product .

The Meaco dd8L is very quiet in operation - desiccant type. Thats the one I have.
Compressor type not so quiet and prone to icing in very cold snaps but may overall be longer lived

On the assumption it is set up with a drainage hose draining into the (externally draining) sink and being left un-attended (monthly visits) - what settings do you/should I put it on

I use the setting with two fan symbols and two water drops symbol. It will cut out when the required humidity level is achieved.

Thanks - roughly what is that costing you per week do you know - not critical just curious.

I would expect to use £60 to £80 in electricity over the winter - beginning of Nov to mid March. That might include frost protection cutting in now and again and typical mild winters we have been having the last few years .

I'm just testing it by setting it up with those settings at home - it seems to be resilient to an interruption in power as with plugging and unplugging but turning the power off for app 30 mins and then back on again it doesn't completely reset despite the lights being on it hasn't come back on is that your experience??

FYI, Don't keep switching it off abruptly, it could damage the unit, they are designed to run with the fan to cool down as part of the power off cycle.

Thanks I was only sensibly testing/simulating a couple of marina power cuts - it has in fact now just come on on its own so clearly it can cope with power cuts - good to know - "testing" over - I will take it to the boat tomorrow or Wednesday for my last visit pre my hip operation and related quarantine which all starts on the 12th op on the 19th!
Thanks all............

Many years ago I enquired about winterising the Jabsco on my old boat and was told to pour a little olive oil down to keep seals lubricated.

Went to marina today 2hr round trip no changes evident at all - cars the same, boat use the same, boaters on their boats the same.

Set up heaters and de - humidifier, drained water, left engine useable for now as new antifreeze is up to scratch...........

Thats it for a while now - we have to self isolate from tomorrow night ie 7 days before op - fingers crossed it still goes ahead!

All good

Cheers

Good luck with the op. We will probably all still be in some kind of quasi lockdown when you are out so I am sure you will miss nothing.
