winterising boat in lockdown I’m getting worried ????

No logic in that . I enjoy doing maintenance so it is recreation .

What I do have doubts about is whether a journey from home to boat is within the regulations. What length of journey is acceptable.?
Does it really matter if you drive 10 minutes or for one hour? you are in your car alone presumably. Contact at each end is the same and the argument that you may need to fill your car up one extra time doesn’t really hold water frankly as the statistical probability of you getting or spreading CV in that one extra stop is so small as to be meaningless. I think this boils down to what is acceptable to you and people being sensible in general when they do things. This after all is what a free democracy is although whether we are anymore is I accept open to challenge.

Not really but perhaps more than an hour is too far ? I would like to know what length of journey is acceptable without being fined . But I do realise I am unlikely to find the answer to that on an internet forum.

As no actual limits have been set out in the statutory instrument, I suspect the police would have difficulty fining you providing you have a reasonable excuse for
being away from home. And the chances of you being stopped by the police are almost non existent.

The chief officer and I just returned home after a walk from home including a visit to the marina . Set the dehumidifier on the boat to run for 8 hrs.
A few people about in the marina including people tinkering with boats ashore.
I would say a few more people would be around ordinarily. The gates would ordinarily be unlocked during the day but are in the locked setting - operated by key fob .

My understanding that the essential travel element is guidance and not included in the SI, so no risk of being fined for travelling too far. The reason for being away from home would be the thing to justify.

Going out on the boat is allowed so that's not a problem . Defra state Winterisation or working on your boat is not allowed so you will need to think up a good reason to get around that one

Yep, which is an absolute nonsense. Working on my boat is lower risk than taking it out (not that either carry much risk) and many of us do it for recreation, so someone in Defra pronouncing on something that, in all likelihood, they have absolutely zero knowledge of makes the whole thing very frustrating. The plot is being rapidly lost methinks.

I guess the police will just check where your car is registered and if quite away from home pull you over maybe, just guessing.

Perhaps I had better not go out by car as my car is was registered in Devon , the lease company is in Wiltshire but I live in Nottinghamshire .

It seems to me that if its OK for non essential retailers to stay open, then I don't understand why people shouldn't visit and check their boats. They have said you can travel for exercise ... and have included beaches in the list of public places. It's just a complete shambles.

We went out on our boat today. Marina staff fully aware, as they operate the lock, and several boats coming and going. Perfectly acceptable to use your boat.

The roads are barely any quieter, you will never get pulled over for driving anywhere currently.
I haven't strayed far from home other than on foot an haven't been out in my car onto a main road for week or so . We live in a village on a close - most traffic is delivery vans . I have wondered how the out side world is doing. :)

Doesn't stop them pulling you over and then the questioning starts etc.
I look forward to being pulled:).
I have no intention of going anywhere without a valid excuse and don't expect to see police between home and the marina.

Have you looked out of your door? The roads are barely any quieter, you will never get pulled over for driving anywhere currently.
Actually no, not ventured out since lockdown. My comment was just a thought.

The last lockdown, police where visting my mdl marina, no idea if they will do that again this time.

Hmm I have no idea p car is registered
It's after midnight here, not a soul is stirring, we have a midnight to 5am curfew, in the big cities its from 10pm to 6am
Count your blessings
And have good nights sleep, no road noise.
