Wintering nea Sardinia

We've just spent the last 2 seasons in Marine Sifredi http://www.marinadicarloforte.it/ in Carloforte at the SW tip of Sardinia. We have a 63ft mobo and it cost us about €4000 over the 6 winter months. The marina is run by a friendly and efficient couple, Giuseppe and Carmela who speak good English, and there are shops and restaurants within easy staggering distance plus the town itself is very pleasant. Only downsides are that it can be quite windy in that area and you need to take a ferry and taxi to get to Cagliari airport where there are daily Easyjet flights to Stansted.
For maintenance there is an excellent yard across the water on San Antioco called SA.C.I.R.N http://www.sacirn.it/contatti.asp. The yard manager, Andrea, is very competent and speaks passable English. They also have the largest boat hoist in the area and plenty of hardstanding

If your facing the town from the sea, is that the one on the far left?

You mean the marina at Carloforte? Its the one on the right as you enter the harbour but both marinas are owned by the same family anyway

Further info... only 2 day sail to Sardinia. Our 16 M price was €1700 plus leccy and water. (yours would likely be +- €1200 for the winter in water) Depends how much financial value you apply to a couple days of sailing time...

We LOVED Sardinia with some exceptions.. the Magdalena islands where the entire place is out of bounds to all vessels. Enjoy your cruising!

Yes Caloforte. Still to date the best Tagliata I have ever had! Nice marina as well.

Actually tuna is the speciality in Carloforte. Every year thousands of tuna swim past the north end of San Pietro island on which Carloforte is located and the locals just put a bloody great big net in the way and take what they want. The result of that is that every restaurant in the area offers tuna cooked a dozen different ways and pretty much nothing else. You can definitely have too much of a good thing. You can even get tuna ice cream in Carloforte:eek:

Yes the marina is nice and very friendly. I left my boat there for 2 winters and they looked after it very well
