Winter in St Katharine's

Just saying hello to the Thames people as I've come to St Kats for the winter, so if anyone is there, please say hello back. I am in East dock.

Last long term "inmate" was a forumite called Mainship Tom.Think he had temp contract working somewhere nearbye.
Excellent Italian 20 mins away in Wapping High St called Il Bordello.

Did this year before last, good place for winter. Use boat as hotel & go to shows,west end shopping & eating out. Excellent, may repeat next year.

I commute daily to the city - work full time in Leadenhall Street. Will stay aboard on and off depending on weather and social activities.

3 Bray boats, keep an eye out for us

As an ex Thames boater ( 10 years -Bray / Windsor / Cookam) I was under the impression that St Kats was eye-wateringly expensive !

Now relocated to Holland as a live aboard I have often thought of bringing the boat to St Kats for a winter, but have been spoilt by Dutch marina prices.

Excluding shows,City restaurants etc, what would the ball park figure for a 13m Dutch Steel cruiser cost for a winter (liveaboard) in St Kats ?

We are 12.5 metres & we did Aug-feb for around £2.5k, inc as much 32 amp as we wanted, which I thought was quite reasonable.

that's cheaper than I am paying for <9m!?

It is eye-wateringly expensive, but if I use it as a live-aboard for 2-3 nights a week (x two of us) the money we save on commuting plus the costs of where it would be berthed anyway - it's about even.

Plus the advantage of being about in town over xmas and new year is appealing - let alone the glamour of living in St Kats. oh the glamour of using outside toilets and clambering over icey decks in office attire

Although at the top end of acceptable,marina mooring fees of £100 quid a week for six month agreement is not too bad.
Suspect it would be more than double that amount for single night in hotel overlooking the dock.

Seem to remember it was similar or even slightly cheaper than Burnham on crouch at the time. Seems the olympics & a couple of years may have changed things.

PH at the mo, awaiting BSS and registration! When she's back afloat, will have to use visitors licence for this trip as I leave PH on 29th...
