Just seen the weather forecast for the weekend. Bloomin great depression accross the UK on Sat & Sun, with isobars tighter than a....well we won't go into that.

So it's winter draws on, once the clocks go back that's it for this year, I reckon. And a group of us were hoping for an end of season run accross to Cherbourg. I don't think so, not as hard as our Kim.

Agreed the weekend looks foul but better from Monday onwards - still plenty of time for Cherbourg, still planning to go there, did my first trip there in November a few years ago. The pontoons were white with frost and surprise surprise the place was empty. Also the heater gave up the ghost and the crew almost mutinied and almost went to stay in a hotel.

Where are you based and let me know if you still want to go across.

Out of Poole.

I'm not organising it, but I know it's got to be a weekend, and as we're 25-30 footers the weather's got to be good.

Can you recommend good hotels in Cherbourg, if it's chilly?

Let you know if it happens.
