Memo to self, when arriving at the UK, contact only border force officials and don't tell any yacht club ones.
The person attempting to wind surf from the Europe would be entering a foreign marina.I’m not talking about sailing into a foreign marina
I cannot see that requirement either on the Gov sites or the RYA site.He will get turned back from Lowestoft as it is not a port of entry!
He's probably not entering a marina at all - but assuming he is its a British marina - which whilst foreign to him, you seem to miss the point applies British rules and nonchalance towards paperwork compared to many of our European friends who take admin more seriously. My observation is that foreign skippers are not quizzed in the UK - now I may not be seeing them at their first port of entry, but I dont see them even asked if they've cleared customs elsewehere. They get asked the same as me - do you need shore power, do you have the code for the toilets etc...The person attempting to wind surf from the Europe would be entering a foreign marina.
Yup, the absolute Bollux.Bollux?
Where I come from that means the bestYup, the absolute Bollux.
Nah, that’s the Dog’s BolloxWhere I come from that means the best
Well, one of my friends took the previous administration’s calls to stop the small boats to mean that he should sell his Malo 36 and buy a Malo 43…Or they might have headlines like “Starmer acts on immigration at last”
Hi all. Reupping this because Bob is on his way today! Last time I checked he was doing 16 knots or so and approaching coast. Another 110+ nm to go to get back to Scheveningen. It would be an amazing achievement. Details in my opening message on this thread.Hi all, Dutch windsurfer Bob van de Burgt is currently en route from Scheveningen to Lowestoft in the opening hours of a mighty challenge today. He is windsurfing all the way from the beach here to the beach there, and back - in one day! It's more or less 200nm. He's doing it to raise funds for the Dutch charity which helps children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
He left at 8am Dutch time and reckons to be back anytime between 18-21 this evening. You can read more about it on the English version of his site which is Home - Surfing for Muscles The Dutch version is Home - Surfen voor spieren If you have the yellow brick race tracker app then you can track him on that under 'surfen voor spieren 2024' - which currently tells me he has 171 miles to go, and he's travelling at 14+ knots. There's a video feed of the app on his website - I guess there will be live pix as he approaches the English coast and returns to NL.
A long day for him... did he have a little wobble after leaving the Dutch coast?Hi all. Reupping this because Bob is on his way today! If you submit a voyage plan to Border Force here Tell Border Force and HMRC you are sailing to or from the UK in a pleasure craft you can select Lowestoft from their list as an arrival port.He will get turned back from Lowestoft as it is not a port of entry!
