I am currently restoring a clinker built boat and the existing windows are made of persepex. These are so badly scratched they need to be replaced. I am unsure of which material is best - glass or perspex and indedd if there are any special specifications that I should have for the material I eventually use - e.g uv resistant etc.

You don't say if the perspex is held in a frame of some kind. If so I would go for glass. If, however, the material is drilled and held on a bed of mastic or foam strip you might want to consider polycarbonate.
It is softer than perspex so will scratch, but it won't go milky or crazed and is much easier to work. Drill screwholes slightly over-size to reduce stress.

Thanks for the reply. The current windows are held in a rebate by a chromed frame and have some sort of sealant to bed them in. The tip about drillilng the holes oversize is useful.
