WINDOW FILM REMOVAL

A previous owner I suspect in about 1988 added a stick-on film for "privacy" to my heads windows which went discoloured to a horrible light yellow/brown . I have recently spent hours scraping(manually) electric wire brushing with T Cut and using several chemicals such as meths and white spirit. So far using a brass end brush about 20mm diameter has been a poor best but at this rate it will take many many hours to remove and de-scratch the windows. Has anyone tried a power scraper, or is there a chemical which will remove the originial glue which has I suspect welded itself to the perspex!

surely it would be quicker and more cost effective to remove the window completely and just replace the acrylic with a new panel.

Might be worthwhile speaking to SAC (01384 443744) they sell a fluid for taking plastic boat lettering off GRP which works quite well. If you buy a bottle suggest you do a small area first!

Thanks. Yes it might come that but many of the screws are corroded/siezed so will need driling out in awkward places!!
