There is a Sika specifically for windowsCut the visible bit off with a scalpel.
Tape it.

No need to tape it, when the professionals do it they squirt the sealant in, spray with a soapy water solution then blade it off to finish. They make it look so simple.
This is probably the first time (and hopefully the last) you will do the job so tape it and you will have a near perfect job, no experience necessary.
I think it depends on your skill level. I did mine last year and it takes a lot of skill to get an even small bead especially when changing to the next handle grab of the applicator. A good discussion because it gives seastoke a choice with some pros and cons. Why tape it ? The blade method gives a factory finish where as tape method doesn’t give that perfect factory finish edge that looks far better and is easier to do.

This is the perfect solution. Inexpensive and very simple. The backstop is that if it doesn't work, you can resort to more expensive solutions.

Sorry no pics and my boats in Spain. My application is a bit different from yours in that my screen is fitted with a rubber seal but the problem is the same. I just cleaned behind the rubber, made sure it was completely dry, taped up and sealed between the glass and rubber and took the tape off straightaway.Any before and after pics?
Did you cut back original rubber or just seal over?
I have a small leak in mine so keen to know of pragmatic options
Cheers
is this for cracks in glass ,where this is leaking around the seal

I should have replaced the whole rubber seal which people on here say is easy but I’d rather go boating and the job was a good’un
I did it about 5 years ago with standard sika. Now I’m using the right stuff I would expect at least another 5 years.DavidJ
That's great - exactly my issue; Targa 40 windscreen is a s#d and been told not to be taken off!!
I did a few patches this way and had wondered about doing the whole thing - so now I will
But .. hows yours lasted ?
Cheers BT
