Have you heard about a MASSIVE water sports event on
Windermere on 31st August and 1st September 2002?

The event is endorsed by Cumbria Tourist Board.  There are TENS OF THOUSANDS OF £££'s of prizes and activities to give away - including waterski & wakeboard lessons, canoeing, sailing, lake cruises, and power boat rides.  There is also a power boat race and water ski, wakeboard and air chair displays.  And if thats not enough, there are also "off-lake" activities such as horse riding, mountain biking and 4x4 off roading.  Please see www.waf.uk.com for further info.

Andy Mapple (6 x's World Slalom Champion) is doing a display at the event, and also offerring personal coaching for the first 6 people to collect over 1000 petition names against the ban on Windermere, (forms can be downloaded from www.waf.uk.com).  Every participant at the event will be wearing the same t-shirt and hat against the ban.  Boats will be plastered with stickers for the press and TV.

Its a massive event to increase awareness about the 10mph limit on Windermere and the banning of water skiing and family sports boats.  Windermere and surrounding areas will be awash with posters and leafets and all that you have to do is to spend £25 in any participating outlet, and then all activities are FREE.  There is also 4 holidays to be won.

Alternatively, visit www.waf.uk.com where you can book and activity or enter the prize draws on-line, (and there's no purchase necessary).

For further info please email tony.kemp@waf.uk.com, or telephone tony on 07947 567577.

Let get this right - they are having a Waterski demonstration to publicise the fact that Waterskiing has been banned !!!

Is Windermere the only place to get the sun this summer cus someones got sun stroke.

and if the surrounding areas are awash where will everyone stand without getting wet.

Sounds daft to me ......

Adrian

......the answer is not 42 - so what is it ?? ........

The speed limit does not come into force until 2005. Watersking, powerboating, jetsking all still allowed. The chap from Windermere Action Force (www.waf etc etc) is well intentioned and has put a lot of time effort and hard cash into trying to get the ban overturned.

Unfortunatly i'm taking my boat to the Bollyolics for August so I wont be able to attend this event on another wet bank holiday weekend in the Lakes !!
