Came back to boat today to find Ramarine wind vane had vanished. Could this be due to strong winds or a very heavy seagull! The screw connector appears to still be there so I can only assume the shaft has snapped

I have 'half' of the arrow left on my Windex .... I joke that it was probably a 'fat seagull' .....

I now have a stainless steel one to replace it with .... once weather warms up and I get the 'cherry picker' to hoist me 17m !!

The same thing happened to me a couple of years ago. In years past I have changed a unit up there but on this occasion I paid a man to do it. I only know of one marina that has a quayside ladder for the purpose, but Kroslin is a bit far to go for this service.

I had one where the transducer seized but the rotovector cups survived. You are looking at a new unit for a lot of beer tokens, plus a load of inconvenience

I live at the top of a block of apartments adjacent to boat yard hard standing. I have seen both seagulls, crows and black birds attack windvanes and windex units. Sometimes you may get two birds attacking them and each other at the same time!

Lots of crows and large seagulls round the marina so probably a result of them not liking my wind vane. Hope the replacement is less provocative.
