Wind Vane Steering for a Contessa 26

Hello jonny A, i don't know if you would be interested to make your own self steering system, but the gentleman who has a utube channel called ' How to sail oceans ' built his own. It has a verically pivoted wind vane and seems quite straight forward to make. I am sorry i can't do a link to the episode ( i really am useless with computers ), but the episode is entitled " Biscayne bound: the DIY self-steering widvane ". He used his on a 30 foot long keel boat, he has done a circumnavigation and a trip around the North Atlantic. Once in Cherbourg there was a Contessa 26 with a similar rig. Hope this is of some use to you. Best regards, Oz.

I have thought about building my own, I'm an engineer by trade but that means I'm very aware of my own limitations so I'm going to pass on this option!

Today I took delivery of a WindPilot Pacific Light, I won't be installing it for a few months but I'll report back on how I get on.
I hope to be installing my Windpilot next month. I designed and had built a simple bracket out of 25mm tube. I will post some photos when it is done. PM me if you want any details.
