Wind Strength

We are in Lefkas Marina-GREECE. Today right now the wind spped is gusting up to 60 knts!!

We are in the process of having a new Hard Top Bimini put on and it is LASHED down untill the stainless steel man fits his poles.

Whats the wind like where you are?

On Sunday night in Sant Carles the marina recorded 86 knots, reported in the Spanish press as hurricane force and pictures of overturned trucks in the Tarragona area. Apart from that the weather in February has been brilliant with 18°C most afternoons.

One finger post broke off and a few furling jibs, biminis and canvasses were shredded, however we get no sea in here so just had trouble sleeping at such a steep angle with all the noise of the gusts and some snatching of course.

That must have been a very local hurricane - no problema at all in YPC, Cartagena just 100 km ? south west of you -actually SAILING weather!

It's further than you think, 500 kms by road and quite a different weather pattern. We have the mestral here from the north west, but usually jess than the mistral and tramontana which blow at the same time further north. We are expecting something similar on Sunday but hopefully less than 50 knots.
