Wight storm 10 imminant

Welll . . . Errmmmm?

"Sassenach" was found safe and well.

That's a relief, but being off the Owers (ie Selsey Bill) to the SW requiring a Lifeboat, having declared for Eastbourne per someone's previous post on this thread, presumably to their shore contact who got worried?
That confuses me.

Someone said they wore a white ensign, so RYS or RN?
'Atlanta' syndrome perhaps?

Also, if end port changed to a Solent port, why no text message to shore contact-I've had a signal up to 30nm out usually, due to cliff masts above the big coastal towns.

Basic passage=almost 90 degree run to Dungeness, so TSS done quickly, chance to hide in Rye if tide allows, or allow for tide, anchor, or go sands and rock hopping if tide E going til it turns, then just short tacks to Royal Sov up the inshore traffic lane(might even get a reach inshore), park up,eat, beer, sleep, job done.

Well I certainly wouldn't wish to be anywhere near the Owers last night.

Perhaps they were unconcerned about txting and then just unlucky and couldn't quite make the useful lee of the Wight before being hammered by what seemed to come up quite quickly or had sail damage/ low on diesel/ in which case having The Owers to leeward would be unwelcome, all IMo..And , we shall possibly never know, eh?
