Wight storm 10 imminant

bugga... we're going (were) to the IOW Festival tomorrow booked in to East Cowes and sailing (in a 25ft mobo:D) from the itchen over to the island...

have called up the Solent Coastguard who painted a very dark picture of the likely conditions even with that short hop.

time to tell the good lady wife we may not be going:(

Just been looking at the AIS site - there is a dutch 11metre sailing yacht heading south east out of chichester harbour at the moment and I was expecting it to head back in but it seems to be continuing, surely not going for a channel crossing in this weather

it's only blowing 34 knots gusting 42 knots at chi :)

Its all my fault. I bought a boat! While it was ashore and I was working on it through march the weather was wonderful. The weekend it hit the water the weather went to pot. Since its been in the water the weather has been pants. I think I'll sell the boat..............

I'm looking out over St Cat's now..can't see any pontoons but with the weather out there they would be sunk by now!!

Looks like he has realized his mistake and has turned around, heading back now towards Solent.

Lot of weight in the gusts just now, gonna be lively at hw then .

And yesterday sailing was sun on blue water, 1 flattener reef and 6 rolls for comfort, t shirt and shorts, perfect midsummer. Oh well:(
