she also used to helm when we raced dinghies as she is a better sailor - and I prefer crewing
[/ QUOTE ]How impressive - not only the willingness to sail together in a dinghy, but to do it happily with you crewing (well, I hope it was happily) /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
however I think thos e men are daft . I am a complete chauvinist . I let the wife drive all the time . I now read the paper and sleep . Silly boys trying to be macho
I agree, all the regular crew need to be capable in all the various skills of boat handling. But, I admit to usually parking the boat, because I would NEVER do the ropework well enough for HWMBO. I am happy with that, because if he isn't around, then he doesn't see how well I have tied all the ropes. Mind you, when I had my own boat 18 months ago, I never had any problems mooring or tying up all the strings.
And as for reversing the car, I am still flexible enough to turn in the drivers seat and see both sides of the back window. So at least I can see where I am going.

The last thing on my mind is sleeping in the passenger seat, writing last will and testament, singing hymns, praying, but not sleeping, jesus what was that, wooah slow down through that gap.
I sometimes even scream like a big girl /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I (girlie) helm when we got the sails up, cos Iam better at it. He takes it if we have to reef or theres any deck work to do. cos I am quicker and tidy up the ropes after.
He parks it cos theres the possibility of an ordiance and helms any time the engines are on. Cos it bores me stupid and he's better at it.
