Got to agree with you, most new boats look like Airfix kits, no class or grace and they smell like the inside of a plastic Goldfish tank.

Bring back the old days.

Why does it have carrying handles..? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Urrgghhhh, that is one of the ugliest boats I have seen in ages.

It looks as if the entire deck is hinged at the front, and has been raised up at the back for "maintenance mode". Drop the deck down to it's normal operating position, and it will look much better.

Thats it ! - Handles - I know now what it reminds me of, Wife's handbag I bought her for Christmas 5 years ago.

Have a ticket in for the euro lotto, £35M pot - When I win (no if's this time) would I buy it ? err - No. Probably not enough anyway, don't speak enough Russian.

Does NEW means UGLY? Does OLD mean BEAUTIFULL?

I don't think there's an implicyt relation between NEW and UGLY.

The fact that (at least in my opinion), it's ugly; has nothing to do with the fact that it's new; I just don't like the design.
I have steel displacement yacht, which (in my opinion) isn't ugly at all .... And it's less then a year old

It's only a mather of taste....

I see your point but in my opinion as boats are now made using more automated processes and big moulds etc its now much easier to make an ugly boat. Or should i say a boat without any sense of style.

I certainly wouldnt say all old boats are good lookers but i would say that when a boat was hand crafted it was indeed that...crafted so you would get some very nice touches. Also i would assume most if not all boats are designed by CAD these days.. I still think in the style stakes the touch of the hand is better than the touch of the computer keyboard..

The demands for full beam, full headroom mid cabins in ever smaller boats makes them taller, which tends to make them uglier, although i'm not sure Sunseeker can use that excuse for the monstrosity above

[/ QUOTE ]I don't think there are many automated processes in building a ship. I agree, that some manufacturers use production lines (eg Bavaria, Linssen), but I can assure you that all dutch ships are 'hand made', especially steel ones like mine.[ QUOTE ]

[/ QUOTE ]Although I'm convinced, that the technical drawings are made using CAD, I'm pretty sure that most designs start on peace of real paper and a pencil.....
