Who will recover an existing sprayhood frame?

Is the framework in good condition still??

It's never a good way of doing this type of work. Depends on a lot of factors. Potential twists, bends in your existing framework over time. Stretching of the canvas. You could be using a bad template if you get me. If your existing canopy was in decent shape and I mean literally the shape then it could work. Fitting is the easy part.

I could recommend over here but not up to scratch with the canopy manufacturers across the pond.

All the best tho. I'm sure recommendations will come flooding in

Agree. Risky getting an existing frame re-used without the fitter seeing the boat and measuring up. Sprayhoods are usually individually fitted to a boat and can look awful if not fitted by an experienced person.

Steve Goacher will ( Windermere)
I 'd run it down there for you if you like.
Owens will as well, - they once offered to do mine.
Canvassman in Otley or Ilkley but I'm not sure about the quality of their work

My sprayhood frame certainly changes shape when fitted to the boat as it flexes to fit on its mounts. I imagine most do this and agree the canvas maker should ideally see the boat.

Why do you want to send the frame away, is there no sailmaker within striking distance of the boat?

I unpicked an old sprayhood to use as a template.
The clue was that the pieces wouldn't lie flat on the floor.
I made the sprayhood anyway.
Idiot.
Took several trips to the boat and a lot of unpicking to get it right.
And it's still far from perfect.
Much quicker to make a template.
Unpicking is very, very boring.

Had mine done by Owen sails this last winter. Perhaps not the cheapest option, but local and the fit is absolutely spot on and I'm more than happy with the workmanship.
You can see it any time you want Webby, it's the blue Rival 34 on Loch Feochan.
