For that kind of money, some people would buy a couple of fairly boring cars.

Not something I'd choose, but a lot of people quite like Contessa 32s, and some people don't have to look closely at the price.

It has been for sale for some time - and already had a starring role in an earlier thread here with similar opening comment.

For some owning such a boat is not a rational decision.

You can say that again, you would have to be stark raving bonkers.

Lol .... only for a complete Contessa obsessed old person ... but I'm not and never will be in the market for a Contessa of any vintage or condition. Something we lusted after as a family in the 70s from the cockpit of our Kingfisher 20+ but now hopelessly outdated and cramped.

Some more alternatives .... all gorgeous and built this century (except one).

Sailing in general is not a rational decision and along the continuum of participants there is always a small number who are attracted by the almost cult status. clearly the owner of this boat is in that position and I expect there is a like minded soul somewhere, but not sure will be found on Apollo Duck.

I can see why somebody would go for it in principle, ...... but 6 slightly different styles of doors on the lockers, different catches/ handles in places, too many different textures on vertical surfaces, that manky corner on the nav station - all makes it not look the quality I would expect for that money.

Contessa 32 for sale UK, Contessa boats for sale, Contessa used boat sales, Contessa Sailing Yachts For Sale Contessa 32 from 2012 - Apollo Duck

Newish Co32 with some "interesting" fitout choices.

How much has the original owner lost on this in 12 years, 100k easily and hard to imagine anyone buying this for anything near that asking price. 120k to sleep next to the toilet.

The interior looks more DIY than Rogers finest.

He would probably do ok if a buyer can be found at that price, which is doubtful. Always a dodgy move to go too wild with a one design class.
He maybe paid in the region of £150 thousand for the boat, to build it now certainly £300,000 +

It would make a nice rich-man’s toy for someone who wanted to do a bit of class racing in the Solent, I suppose.

What does RYS mean on the stern? Is the daughter of Zues, queen of the underworld, who's name must not be spoken, a member of the Royal Yacht Squadron?

I actually think it’s a different boat than the one discussed before that was for sale and was not going to sell. It did!!.

You do get the boaty thing don’t you. It’s not all about a jaquizy and double oven. I can just imagine you lot all stood next to one tied up whinging why it’s so bad, but secretly wishing your own boat looked quite so good in and out the water. Makes me smile 😊
