I've just got a new flag and it makes my boat look really manky, so what boat should I get to go with my nice new triangular mousey blue pennant. I am on a limited budget but want to be classy.

Nothing makes a smart blue pennant look grubby quicker than a mass of flapping, off-white canvas surrounding it, so I should dispense with the strange triangular laundry dryer installed on your current boat. You may find that this adversely affects performance, in which case you will need to specify a larger auxiliary engine in your new boat - say, 250 hp or so - or possibly even have 2 engines fitted. The advantage of this arrangement is that you will no longer need the large underwater fitting that is limiting the speed of your current boat to 12 knots or less (depending on the helmsman selected).

Particular attention should also be paid to waste disposal arrangements in your new craft, as an imbalance in load will quickly become apparent at speed.

Alternatively, if your budget is limited, how about a nice shiny narrowboat? I'm sure that would elicit cries of admiration from all on these boards. I believe that Byron, in particular, would happily make some recommendations with regard to these fascinating and versatile craft.

Hope this helps.
