Which Metal Cleaner?

I bought 3 bottles of Spotless Stainless about 4 years ago but it looks the same as the one RichardS is recommending so maybe they changed the rather awkward sounding name! Paint it on with a 1" or 2" brush, leave it for a bit and hose it off ... actually I find it easier to use a bucket of water and a rag - lots of water - and it does do what they promise. It lasts as well because I think it leaves the stainless with a protective coat on .... anyway, recommended ... :encouragement:

+1 for Spotless Stainless or similar. Its especially good for cleaning the threads of bottle screw

Are there Any other products like Y10 which might be used ? It's the only one I am aware of this brand but maybe there are others which others use to clean brown staining on grp ?

The cheapest way to do it is to buy some oxalic acid crystals (they are available on ebay). Dissolve in water, add a bit of washing up liquid. Paint along the waterline. You need to try to keep it wet so repeat every 15 mins for as long as it takes. If you are able to wait until the air temperature gets a bit higher than it currently is the whole process is a lot quicker.
When the hull is once more back to its proper colour wash the acid off with fresh water.
I often end up going a foot or more above the waterline. Once you've cleaned a strip it shows how 'brown' the rest of the hull is.
The benefit of the Y-10 formulation is that the gel stays put on the surface and doesn't dry out as fast as the liquid. Your choice, time or money.

Thank you for for info . I might stick with my small pot of Y10 which has served me well for quite a few years using a toothbrush to apply around the base of fittings To remove the staining on the grp . I suppose you might mix crystals with something like swarfega to obtain adhesion to the hull if you had the time but as you say it's a matter of units of time to quote Nick Hornby versus units of money.
