Back in the day (early 90s), I had a SLAM jacket - fleece lined, wind and spray proof, almost water proof. 30 years later I miss it.
Is there a modern equivalent?
I see they have the "Summer sailing jacket", described as "Iconic waterproof and windproof sailing jacket", but they have changed the cuffs on the wrist and waist (adjustable Velcro on the wrist and smaller hem on the waist) from the original. Its also mesh lined not fleece (I used mine as a pillow on more than a few occasions - mesh not so good for that!)
There's also the "Crew hooded jacket 2.0" - again- cuffs not the same and the hood is high vis and lining is mesh.
So, any alternatives? Wind proof, spray proof, (rain / waterproof?), lined for some warmth - I'm on the West coast, with a fold away hood, zipped pockets etc.
The original was perfect (bar the cost, but it did last 20 odd years of abuse - so good value in reality) - I used it on the water, off the water, used it as a pillow, I even went skiing in it on sunny days. The wind and water never went up my sleeves, the collar was high enough to "seal" your neck in all but the most direct drenches, the waist didn't rid up etc.
