Which island is this ?

Is it that little island off Vigo in Italy?
Yes that’s it here https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=njP1GhBEH-s

And there’s another further E off This bay called Bergeggi
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=zzeywZNmcCI

We are in Marina d Loano , it’s a good 4 hrs from home by road , cuts 2 hrs the worst part of the journey off and you get a more bang for for your € here too .
Smart modern place fab architecture https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hneAHCKpiaY

We will use it as a base to explore Portofino , the La Spetzia bay and Elba .
14 years in La Napoule time for a change .

See how Brexit pans out over the next two years and go from there .

My boat stayed there for one winter. Brand new and well administered marina. A bit boring coastline. Cosy town.

But what about all those years learning French?:p

And the Language in Llandudno?
:D

:)
Tbo she’s somehow never quite needed Welch or any Fr to W translations or visa versa .
As for me language inc En has always been a struggle.
Yep new language for both of us , she’s already romping ahead and it’s only day 3 !

On a more general note it’s 10 % or lower the volume of boat traffic compared to the CdA , just so quieter , sea and roads .
After a while the crowded , hectic ness of the CdA gets annoying .

Genoa airport has a nice marina within a very short walk .So it’s possible to nip over there and guests can literally fly in and walk to the boat through a adjacent gate .
You can’t do that with NCE .

We have scoped out a few places during our commute to the CdA and Loano sits at the bottom of the road so to speak .

Yeh the coast is not at first glance no where near as convoluted as say Monaco to Marseille, but nether the less there are tiny headlands and two near islands to go for a swim , get out etc etc .

Also I think the general maintenance is a refreshingly a lot cheaper here too .Realise CdA is pitched very high to start with .

Porto,

We will miss you on the CdA. Enjoy your new grounds. SammyB, who use to post on here is in the process of moving that way. They have a MC5 or 6 from memory.

Mr S

Get yourself a mountain bike and head over to finale ligure just up the coast, its a mountain biking mecca with some of the best mountain biking in the world.

Get booked on with one of the many mountain bike guiding companies that operate in the town.

It has seriously good biking there.

Porto, it looks really nice and It's good to see someone (else) going a little off piste to the usual CdA, Mallorca destinations. Whilst I'd love to keep a boat in either place I think the negatives (rip-off, don't care attitude, too busy) would piss me off.

I really like the look of the pool and that there's a dog friendly beach (although I imagine you'll have to watch where you're walking).

Does seem a lot dearer than I would have thought though (looks like it would be €12k p.a. for us (10m/3.45m). Berthing arrangement looks very inefficient, pontoons with a single boat in between fingers.

Will look forward to updates.

I wasn’t gonna mention the Fr trade and otherwise attitude but you are right .

The annual or greater rates tumble down from the daily/ monthly, we have paid €6400 / year + tax for a 15 M spot .
Friends been quoted €8000 pa + tax for a 16 m spot , so I’ll let you work out a 12 ?
Also there’s zero service charge ,They have a PAYG card .Currently ( no pun intended :) 24 hrs with the Aircon on from 5pm to 9 am and two fridges is running at €7 / day , so with just the charger when we leave -say €3 .
Anyhow currently La Naps service charge was €3600 all in per year .You can do the maths , but a quick glance we will be better off by a huge amount .
We have a tenant in our berth in la Nap on €16400 pa .
We are here for 2 years then decide if we boot out the tenant and rtn .
They get normally Two between each finger and there’s no bow lines on the finger berths , so the mid cleat holds it Fwds .
Actually I have never been on a finger thingy so for me it’s nice to clean the sides ( can turn around ) etc etc .
It’s big and spacious as it’s version 1 of the design .What I mean by this many of the early 70, s Med marinas have been multiple reconfigured to accommodate bigger boats thus narrowing the aisle gaps and manoeuvre space .
Not that it was a ever worry mind , just feels odd basking in vast spaces .The yard does 14 M to 550 tons eek , some nice stuff in there !

Anyhow here’s my current spot for the day and it’s roasting so having to take a dip .

:)Ciao :)

Good luck Porto and I hope it works out for you. I might be heading in that direction myself after my lease in Antibes runs out. I have to agree with Eren though. That bit of coastline is a bit boring and the interesting bits are on the land rather than at sea. I'd be interested to know whether you find that the reduced cost outweighs the location

Thx Mike , agree nothing beats the CdA for coast interest within 2 hrs of London by air .Or N EU .Thats why it is busy , rammed .
However this stretch from Imperia to Savona is not that bad there are bays two islands etc for day lazing .
Elba and Corsica are 90 miles or so for bigger away trips and of courses Cap Ferrat for me 2 hrs .
The ambiance of the people in shops , restaurants, fellow boaters ( all IT thus far ) is lovely and friendly as well as pleasant cost benefits like main courses in the low to mid teens not mid twenties/ low thirties.
90,% of the boats are IT , no surprise so you fit right in :)

Town is nice and only IT does not seem invaded by shed loads of foreigners .

Marina car park is stuffed with Maserati never seen so many and even a official Ferrari dealer , a small one by U.K. marenello standards 4 miles away from Loano

Thats the attraction IMHO. We've visited San Remo and Imperia on our travels and they're far more vibrant towns than you'll find on the CdA and this might be heresy to some but I prefer Italian cooking to French cooking anyway, never mind the price difference. And yes, the Italians are lovely people in the main. Trouble is that if you get any kind of onshore wind there really is nowhere to anchor on that coast so you might be spending some time exploring those vibrant towns;)

Looks like there are very few LON to Genoa flights which is a shame.
