Thanks to all. No quite sure which glue Vara sees as the professional's choice.
It did make me wonder as well.
I have used most of the alternatives:
Cascamite is great because you can buy a small tub and it lasts well, in the shed, if you keep it dry.
Gorilla type foaming stuff is excellent, but a part used bottle will tend to thicken and not keep well.
Epoxy two part, like West, is superb and seems to remain usable forever.
Epoxy would be my pick. You may have to buy more than you need, but you could be still using the same pack in 20 years time. It can bond and encapsulate and can be used to fabricate all sorts of structural stuff. Get a big pack for future use.
