Which 30-ish footer

Why not use E5 petrol then. Our 3.3hp outboard is running fine, and uses so little fuel each year a few quid extra for E5 is not an issue.
Of course I've tried that...fresh every month, the balance of the unused petrol going into my car. £ + faff.
...and with stabiliser additives...££ + more faff...

...and Aspen too. £££

Problem not solved.

Perhaps you are lucky? I would guess that the atmosphere of the Clyde is as wet as Cornwall?

Our boat would be awfully slow with less than 5hp. More to the point, hard to steer and stop! We use fuel additive for ours, and use an electric motor for the tender.
My new gen Honda 5 on the bigger boat seemed better able to cope? Jet sizing?

Additives, plus "drying" the carb by shutting fuel off on approach to mooring, then leave to idle while tidying up Until engine stalled seems to work. But not for the 2.3 on the tender.

We need the HP and a high thrust prop to push our bows where we want them to go if it’s windy. Hard enough as it is. We have 15hp, though we only weigh 2 tons.
