Where to mount an Eberspacher/Webasto on an Antares 760?

The one thing I need on my Beneteau Antares 760 is a diesel fired heater such as an Eberspacher or Webasto hot air system. If you have such a system already in your Antares 760, where is the heater mounted, where are the outlets and what route does the trunking take from heater to outlets.

Hi Plum
Can't answer your question directly however be sure to mount the heater where you can get at it without to much effort as you will need to service it if you want trouble free heating. I replace the glow plug & screen approx every 18months.
I have a Eberspacher D3LC a good little unit.

I finally decided where to mount the heater, where to run the ducting and wiring, where to fit the two outlets and how best to connect to the fuel tank, where to source all the parts and have now completed the installation myself. I now have a new Eberspacher d2 installed just in time for the cold weather. If any other Antares 760 owner is planning an installation I am happy to share experience.

Do you have a CO alarm? If so it is worth leaving it near the unit to exhaust pipe and pipe to skin fitting joins while you run it up, just for peace of mind. If it doesn't go off you have probably tightened the bolts up enough and you can mount it back where it would be normally.

An excellent idea! I have ordered a co alarm from Screwfix and will be picking it up this morning so will do as you suggest. Many thanks.

Your post on Antares 760 heater is a while ago now, but I am looking to do the same thing on mine. I’d be interested in how you did this. thanks
 
Is that a petrol or diesel boat? I have a 780 with a petrol outboard, and had given up on the idea. Could you share some pictures of your planned fitting location?! Following with interest!
 
I fitted one of these and used a Chinese copy, there are several threads on the forum discussing these.

Many forum members are happy with them and should they fail ( which they generally don't) then you can buy another 9 as spares for the same cost as our German friends version..

Oh yes, there is a reason they are expensive too....... Have a read of this!!!

This is a 16 year old 760 with an inboard diesel. I've only just started thinking about this so no plans or internal photos yet I'm concerned primarily about the exhaust location, but I'm sure there are a few other challenges to think about.

That's appalling! I'm betting their prices haven't come down at all......
 
Couple of question.s. Where did you locate the exhaust outlet? Did you take the power supply directly from the batteries? Presumably there is some kind of switch and indicator - where did you locate these? Thanks again.

The exhaust outlet was positioned in the side of the hull adjacent to where the heater is mounted about a foot above water level. Don't forger the silencer! Electrical power came from the battery, but after the isolator, of course. The little control panel is mounted next to the main switch panel above the fridge.
