Where to leave a boat on south cost of Cornwall for a few weeks.

When I finally get in the water I plan to travel from Cardiff and around lands end with the aim of hopping between places over a period of long weekends over the summer. I plan to cruse in the vicinity of Falmouth to Torbay.

Any suggestions for cost effective places to leave the boat along that stretch for a week or so at a time. Proximity to public transport would be an advantage.

The visitors yacht haven or the customs house quay marinas at Falmouth, are both a short walk from the train station. Customs house will be a bit more expensive but its bigger and more likely to have space.

I'd recommend the pontoons up past King Harry Ferry, near to Truro and inexpensive. And very sheltered.

Plymouth is between Falmouth and Torquay and has good public transport services. Try one of the yacht clubs for a temporary mooring or one of the marinas if you are feeling flush?

PS You probably already know that there are several yacht clubs to ask around, but you could start with Tamar River, Saltash and Torpoint Mosquito. You could also ask the Cattewater Harbour Authority as I have rented a mooring from them for a month or two in the distant past at very advantageous rates,

ps were you trying to do it within the 30 minute limit set by the club for staying on the pontoon?

ring paul ferris at Truro Harbour hes a good chap and he might be able to find you something in his area.
or Martin Roseveor of Falmouth harbour commissioners he a good chap very helpful and I know that there are visitor moorings available.
If I was you I would go for the mooring in Falmouth its reasonable and train about 2mins walk.

I know it is generally unnecessary and pedantic to comment on spelling but this looks something of a Freudian slip

no way. it took me 20 mins from the royal corwall to the town station and that was going some.

I lived there for quite a while, I know how far the station is lol.
Come ashore at the water sports by water taxi and walk 2mins to the Dell station stop if that!
Bosun I expect you asked a Cornishman for directions and he sent you to the furthest away.
There are three stations the docks, the dell and penmere.

What you did wrong there, was you landed at the wrong end of the harbour.
