My wife and are planning to charter in the Caribbean next January.
I'd be grateful for any recommendations, which area, which company, easiest to get to, etc, would it be worth travelling so far for a week ?
Thanks
John

I have chartered in the BVIs and Grenada.

BVIs have very easy, pretty short sailing with seemingly less bite in the trades.

Grenada has more challenging sailing. Less American influence than the BVIs.

Chartered with Sunsail in the BVIs and Moorings in Grenada. Nothing really to reccomend one over the other.

To obtain full value for only one week it is, in my opinion, worth paying a little more to the airline and make sure you get some sleep on the way there.
If you lose a night's sleep, you lose a day of your holiday!
Antigua is good. You are almost guaranteed good sailing winds in the season.

The Moorings moved their base from Grenada to Canouan, which is right in the middle of the Grenadines. It is only 5 miles or so from the Tobago Cays, 15 from Bequia and 10 from Mustique. The area is one of the most beautiful in the world, and the sailing is fun.

The winds in the Grenadines in January will be up to 25 knots.
