Where is it

A dreary stretch of water with nothing to look at except some industrial works is hardly likely to imprint itself in the mind. :D

Apologies to the original poster for disparaging your chosen cruising ground - a fine day and being unable to go sailing due to an injury is making me a bit grumpy.

I'm grumpy too, just spent 2 hours stationary on the M2 behind an accident. Finally released and come back home, original purpose of trip wasted.
The view is of what I had always understood from others is an iconic East Coast cruising location so I am somewhat flabbergasted that it's so difficult.
The crane and shed are at a boatyard. The view is looking NE.

Paglesham?

Actually on what Karouise says it could be Salcott if there were more boats with the Packing Shed in the middle and West Mersea Marine with their crane up. But there are not enough yachts for it to be Salcott. So I'd go for Paglesham.

Bit like my thoughts initially. I've always picked up a mooring close to the shed and from there you don't get the impression that that stretch of the Roach is as long or as straight.

Actually it was the scene of one of our worst nights on a away mooring. The wind and tide seemed to be in perpetual competition and I had a slack bottom rudder pin that banged away all night making sleep impossible. If the tiller was lashed hard the bottom pin grundled away, if we slackened it off we at least had a bit of a beat to it. Ugh. New fixings now by th way.
