Hoping the photo link works. EDIT It should now thanks to Lakesailor below. These are photos of a painting we have inherited and I am curious where the location is. The artist is one Rhys Jenkins, who according to my father-in-law, lived on a barge/houseboat somewhere on the East Coast. He painted this one in 1971 so obviously some features and the boats will have changed, and there might be artistic license too, but the church would I expect be distinctive and the bit of beach/ curve of the river. Also I have tried to pick out what looks like an industrial chimney on a building in the distance. My guess is either you'll know it instantly or not. I can't help but reckon some East Coasters might enjoy the challenge. Any other info about Rhys Jenkins would be interesting, he said he was related to Augustus John, but my googling has not really made any inroads. All just for fun!

Thanks Pye End. Will google image search the churches there, etc etc. Maldon makes sense. Mother in law said Mersea but I know Mersea and was sure she was wrong....

I think the url works, when I try it it shows a poor blue image to start with but click on full screen and then it all seems to work. Back in the morning to see if I've got complaints or a result.
Bedtime. I'll have another crack in the morning Lakey (ta for the feedback on a non pik!)

All you seem to have uploaded on Picasa are a bunch of 17 photographs about seacocks from a Centaur?

You managed what I failed to do last night. I had a look for a photo taken from the same sort of position but could not find one. Plenty of the church which is very distinctive. It is always a lovely sight coming round the bend in the river, past the park and seeing all of the Thames barges moored up (in spite of half of them in various stages of being 'done up').
