Where do you keep your boat?

Re: Ambition and getting there ....

Like most things you want - there are a few sacrifices ..... but sitting out in the garden .... looking up-river - it's worth it.

Now all I want is to see the finish of work and be able to enjoy it all ......... plus get the garden bits around the house cleaned up ..... Builders make a mess ! even though you set-up special areas for good wood, bad wood, bricks etc. etc.

The 'english' woodland patch that we started ..... was coming on great with Fox-gloves, all sorts of english plants from woodland ..... until we had a delivery of concrete for rear veranda foundations !! The Concrete wagon drove right through the middle of it !!!! >

Re: OK ..... last one ...... ??

Very interesting Nigel. Thanks for sharing a little of your life with us.

If there were bones under the floor, I wonder what may be out in the surrounding grounds? Possibly best to leave both them and the past behind.

Regards

John

Re: Ambition and getting there ....

Did you ever find out who's bones were buried.

I take it you are not the nightmarish sort living with that kind of history of murder and pain.

Are you planning to build a hoist to get the boat out of the ice in winter? Oh, and fit 4 Eberspächers /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Past and bones ....

Its near impossible to determine and to be honest we didn't want to start the never-ending process of Authorities etc. Later on - if we find more - we will go the the authorities ....

As Svet was a nurse at Town Hospital - we had access to various to check the bones .... so we have a good idea about them.

Its one of those subjects that you keep for 'conversation' but don't dwell on at home !!

The surrounding grounds are always turning up tools etc. + odd bits of building etc. I think for years we will be un-earthing relics etc.

The boat - I actually put a chain on and pull it out with my car. She has a twin lifting keel arrangement and central keel, draft keels up about 20 cms. Having the keels - one either side of centre allows her to slide quite easily.

We intend to place concrete slabs in sections to provide a slipway later - then we shall have a 4 wheel 'tray' to put Superanne (my UK boat) on to pull her out.

Eber's ????? Forget it - there is a definite season out here ... and very short change-over period. The canal and river completely freezes for winter .... river is about 5 - 6m deep and ice is often up to 1.5m or more thick. The canal is 1m depth average and solid during that.

During winter we have 100's of guys out there ice fishing !! Wrapped up well, fur boots with thick soles and bottles of Vodka .... >

Icefishing04-05002.jpg

Now this picture is shwoing how silly they can get about this fishing !! It is common for people to get stranded on ice due to break-aways .... Svet and I are always amazed that they continue to do this even when the ice is clearly getting thin !!

Adoption ...

What its worth ?? And what can you do ???? Will it cost me anything ? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

FSU wages ..... sorry !

My Handy-man gardener costs me £2 a day ..... QED !!
